Square and Fair is growing, and each of our locations has been chosen with character, community and atmosphere at its heart.
Our Cardiff home sits proudly within the historic Royal Arcade, one of the city’s beautiful Victorian arcades dating back to the nineteenth century. These arcades were once the beating heart of Cardiff’s independent retail scene, designed to bring elegance and energy to the city centre. Trading beneath the original glass canopy and surrounded by architectural detail, Square and Fair at Royal Arcade blends old world charm with our bold, modern focaccia and speciality coffee offering. It is a space full of heritage, footfall and the everyday rhythm of city life.
On 61 Wellfield Road you will find our second location, open on 1st of September 2026. This location is all about community, chef led food and catering to all ages. Positioned next to one of Cardiff’s most loved green spaces, it brings together socialising and great food with great locally roasted coffee. Whether you have just walked through the park, walking to or from work or are walking home, Square and Fair in Wellfield Road is relaxed, welcoming and different.

Our flagship location is the first of many Square & Fair spaces to come, and we couldn’t think of a better home than here, tucked within the iconic Morgan Quarter.
The Royal Arcade is the oldest arcade in Cardiff, dating back to 1858, and still buzzing with an independent spirit today. It’s a place where history meets modern creativity, much like our approach to food and coffee.
Being here matters to us. The Cardiff arcades aren’t just streets with roofs; they’re the soul of the city. A labyrinth of artisan makers and indie businesses that keep Cardiff authentic. And now, Square & Fair is proud to be part of that story, serving up fair trade coffee, and focaccia sandwiches with personality.
This is more than a coffee shop. It’s our love letter to Cardiff – and the first step in taking Square & Fair to more streets, more people, and more communities.

Some places are more than just streets they're part of your story. Wellfield Road has always been one of those places for Nick.
Growing up, Nick spent countless Saturday's here with his wonderful Nan, Ivy, who lived on Strathnairn Street.
We'd wander up and down Wellfield/Albany Road, calling into Woolworths and visiting all the brilliant independent shops while helping her carry the week's shopping home.
Those memories have stayed with Nick ever since.
So, to be opening our own little corner of Wellfield Road this September feels incredibly special.
It's a real full-circle moment.
I'd love to think about the look on Nan Ivy's face if she could see it now. Mind you, she was a dedicated tea drinker, and I'm not entirely convinced her false teeth would have stood much chance against one of our giant focaccias!
We're so excited to become part of a street that's meant so much to us for so many years.
We can't wait to welcome old friends, new faces, and be part of this amazing community.
